The group has been working relentlessly since its inception to meet its objectives especially in the North East region of India. It is based out of Guwahati, Assam. We aspire to develop, nurture and grow an environment conducive for positive mental health to take root in society at large.
The effects of the rapid changes in all walks of life brought about by the vast technological advances made by humankind over the last few decades has impacted lifestyle at the individual as well as collective levels. Be it family, society, profession or values these changes makes it all the more necessary to restructure our belief system and look afresh at placing mental and emotional well being alongside physical health and not merely as a far removed corollary of “good physical health”.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that “there is no health without mental health.” Mental health is more than the absence of a mental health condition or illness, it is a positive sense of well-being, the capacity to enjoy life and deal with the challenges we face.
Mental health impacts each and every one of us. People living with a mental health issue or condition can experience positive mental health, and an individual may experience poor mental health without a mental health condition. Positive mental health is influenced by a our life experiences, social and economic conditions, workplace or other environment around us that shape our lives
It has been proved beyond doubt that there exist a strong connection between mind and body and the psycho-somatic effects that are reflected on the body thereof. Thus it is important to look at an individual holistically keeping his/her physical, social and mental well being in mind so that he/she becomes a contributing individual of the society.
MIND India is one of the first bodies in the North Eastern Region of India, formed by dedicated professionals to address issues related to the processes involved in ushering in the benefits of positive mental health for all sections of the society.
Adopting a two pronged strategy of grass root research through dissemination of information and quality man power training , MIND India has adopted a plan of action primarily focused on addressing individual issues through Counselling and other psycho social interventions to usher in positive mental and social change. The organization provides technical support based on evidence based research inputs so as to build capacity of manpower at different levels for healing and personal growth which will in turn enhance personal effectiveness.
